The founder and former president of a successful investment group, Nadia Cavner now dedicates her time to philanthropy. In addition to her work with nonprofits serving disadvantaged children, Nadia Cavner is a long-time supporter of the American Bible Society, an international organization that aims to improve Bible engagement through translations, distribution, and education.
Every year, ABS compiles and analyzes information collected from interviews to identify trends in Bible engagement. According to the 2019 State of the Bible, nearly 15 million people categorized as disengaged last year increased their Bible studies.
By the same estimates, more than 40 million Americans turn to the Bible for guidance in everyday life. The ABS survey also found positive correlations between Bible study and pro-social behaviors such as donating to charity and volunteering.
Additionally, technology is changing how people access the Bible. More than half of Bible readers have read scripture on a computer, while 44 percent of readers have downloaded a Bible verse app onto their smart devices.
