Project Connect OMC Raises Funds during Day of Service

A former financial advisor, Nadia Cavner now concentrates on giving back to the community through her support of organizations such as Care to Learn. Also committed to supporting the larger Ozarks region, Nadia Cavner recently took part in Project Connect OMC.

The Ozarks region is known for its friendly residents who are always ready to lend a helping hand to their neighbors, and this was illustrated once again during Project Connect OMC. Held on August 25, 2018, the event brought together more than 50 local groups and over 100 service providers and volunteers from throughout the region to help more than 1,000 residents from underserved areas learn about community organizations while enjoying food and good company.

In addition to raising awareness of these community resources, local businesses, health care organizations, and church groups provided free services such as health care screenings, haircuts, and information about hospice care. Additionally, more than 100 families received assistance in signing up for utility assistance programs, and local food banks distributed over 400 bags of groceries.

The event raised more than $25,000 for future community programs and received nearly $100,000 in in-kind donations. The event was a success, with all of the participants stating they would participate in another event like it.
